Hen-Musik

Through his gritty and powerful lyrics, rapper Henmusik aka Hen (born Antoine Henderson) has developed a cult fan base and is quickly being dubbed as a power player in Virginia’s new wave of hip-hop artists.
Hen was born on June 25, 1986 in Meriden, CT. As the progeny of his father, a fellow local rapper in the New England region, Hen developed a love for hip hop early on and began writing at age seven. In June 2000, he and his family moved to Virginia Beach, VA in search for a better life. Here, Hen fine tuned his passion by delving into an array of activities, including football, drama club and forensic acting. In 2005, Hen enrolled to Norfolk State University, majoring in Mass Communications. Still, his love to make music was never far behind.

In January 2010, Hen debuted his EP "Til War is Won" on iTunes. Hen had finally identified his niche market. He isolated himself for months and delved into a project known as the “Appetizer.” He linked up with The 1st Kind, a Richmond, VA based production duo to produce the mixtape and released the project in September 2010. Since releasing “Appetizer,” Hen has performed several solo and joint shows around Virginia, North Carolina, and West Virginia. He is making serious moves with his music and has many plans for the future, including releasing a follow up to his latest successful effort.

Hen’s first major performance was in April 2009, when he and fellow Norfolk State University classmate K.Scott partnered up to open up for J.Cole, Wale & UCB. In November 2009, he was at again when he got the opportunity to open up for Trey Songz and Fabolous concert held at Norfolk State University. With the release of the mixtape and the notoriety associated from this performance, Hen gained visibility all the way up the east coast. He continues to work side by side with The 1st Kind and has had the opportunity to meet and open up for legends ranging from Slick Rick, Mr. Cheeks, Timbaland, Missy Elliot, Raekwon and Doodle Bug of the Grammy-award winning group Digable Planets. The self-proclaimed artist works tirelessly at his craft and doesn’t plan on letting up anytime soon.

Hen, who is also the CEO of SoundLOY Productions stops at nothing to maintain balance and unity in his personal circle and puts full effort into pushing his SoundLOY brand. Simply put, Hen is the next big thing to watch for. After all, there are rappers, there are lyricists, and then there’s HENMUSIK.
