British-Asian Electronic-R&B singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Darshaan is turning heads with his new single, “Jungle.” The new single off of his upcoming EP due in 2021 under the same name features Darshaan blurring genres, cultures and vibes. The track is a contemporary electronic-driven, R&B concoction that integrates the British Indian experience throughout, from dhol drum sounds Darshaan heard going to Pujas – Hindu religious festivals – as a child in London, to the marimba and a dripping water style synth that recall the torrential downpour he experienced during the Indian monsoon season.

The electronic-based artist is fast gaining traction in the industry. Since his debut last year of the soul-tinged “Leopard Print” featuring indie rapper Leyma, Darshaan has been named the BBC Introducing Artist for the Asian Network by Bobby Friction, culminating in interviews on Bobby, Yasser and D-Code radio shows. His second single, the disco-infused “Watercolours” was added to the New Dance Revolution playlist on Spotify. While his most recent single “Palm Of My Hand” has gained nearly 200k streams on Spotify.

With “Jungle (ft. Katus Myles, NYSZA),” Darshaan has created something of remarkable merit. Innovating with vocal layers that harmonized to produce a lush resounding effect, the track carried some great R&B vibes as well as blending some hip hop grooves into the mixture. The soulful delivery coming from Darshaan’s on-point vocals contrast with Myles’ hypnotic rap style that will leave listeners entranced by his evocative flow. Together with NYSZA’s Hindi lyrics, the sounds were beyond magnetic. I think Darshaan has made a sure-fire hit with “Jungle.” The track evokes an eclectic sound, mixing both culture and pop into a flavorful melding that highlights Darshaan’s British Indian background.

Darshaan is an artist who factors both tradition and contemporary sounds into his music. Inspired by his roots, he incorporates in his sound ethnic instrumentation as well as basing his vibes heavily on electronic fare. Altogether the sounds bring into sharp focus his cultural experiences juxtaposed against a backdrop of modern beats and synths. And the results are electrifying! Be sure you have a listen today!
