Toussaint Lorenz is a busy man. Between juggling his entertainment company I.B.O.H, “I’ll Be Over Here”, a fresh clothing brand, “222”, and creating music I was excited to grab a few moments of his time for this socially distanced interview via email.
Electronic music was the wave in the late 2000s and 2010s. When EDM became mainstream, musical acts from rockstars to rappers jumped on board the trend. Artists began collaborating with fellow EDM artists or even shifting their music towards more of a "futuristic" sound. In turn, this birthed a subculture that is heavily inspired by Sci-Fi. Whether it be by the beats or just concept, all music within this subgenre is forward-thinking and most of all, hopeful of the future.
In light of recent events that took place in Minneapolis last week, many have protested for justice towards Breonna Taylor's and George Floyd's deaths. In celebration of all the Black artists who've done so much for the culture of music despite dealing with discrimination within the music industry or otherwise, I've compiled a couple of playlists. Let's further support each other in these trying times by boosting Black musicians.
